Join us for authentic West African djembe drumming led by Baba Abubakr Kouyate, a master drummer with 40 years of experience. He teaches in African village style. All levels play and learn complex rhythms together on sangba, dunnun-ba, kenkeni, and djembe. Each person learns at his/her own pace. The purpose of the group is a monthly gathering to play drums, celebrate the divine beat that the universe speaks through the voices of drums.     Drums are as old as the the people who first walked the earth. They were used in many rituals, war, sounding alarm, as well as in prayer and celebration. Scientific research has proven the healing effects of drum rhythms on the mind, body and spirit.
