Saturday Drum Workshops--playing and learning West African rhythms-free .....supported in part by the City of McKinney Arts Commission....but it is really an opportunity to play the rhthyms that were started in Guinea, West Africa. We share the rhthyms and then play..great fun excellent way to learn the djembe and dunduns..some drums available. Anyone with a heartbeat can play these drums....I guess that's you...dancers welcome.

This group is to keep up with the band currently known as "Far From Okay". Members include Kevin Cosso on Keys and lead vocals. Jay Watts on guitar and lead vocals. Del Hill on Bass and lead vocals. various drummers. If you want to be reminded of where and when they're performing, just join the group and every once in a while RSVP. Though if you don't RSVP, you can still come out and listen. :)

We love to play Salsa Music, the music of Hector Lavoe, Ruben Blades, Mark Anthony, Gilberto Santarrosa, Willie Colon, Oscar de Leon, etc. We just do it for fun, however we try to make it sound as great as possible. A salsa band can be relatively big and therefore it can take some time to assemble. All instruments and vocals are welcomed and needed. It would be ideal to have at least two musicians per instrument, in a way that we can back each other up when for any reason someone cannot attend. …
