A high-energy, FUN, celebration of drumming and community. For beginners wanting to try something new, friends, experienced drummers, dancers. We celebrate the traditions - rhythms that have built energy for hundreds of years for celebration, dance, ritual - just plain FUN! As well as whatever you bring to it!  We'll have drums to share, and support for newcomers, and energy for everyone. We are seeking paddlers to join our team. Living Root is a diverse group of men and women dedicated to the sport of dragon boat. Started in China 2,300 years ago, dragon boat is a competitive sport where long, sleek boats holding 20 paddlers, a drummer, and a steerer race down a 500 meter course. This is a drumming group that promotes women learning drumming by organizing drum workshops, drum circles, and drumming events. A core group of experienced women drummers, some from the Batucada Belles, a Brazilian drum group, play at social justice events. Opportunities to learn to drum, and opportunities to play at social justice events in the Boston Area will be promoted on this meetup.

We are a group of people that enjoy a good drum rhythm, especially when put into a circle. Our mission is to gather other passionate people together and heal the soul and promote community through drumming and drum circles. We use any kind of percussion istrument, so bring what ever you have!  We may have a couple of inruments to offer, but for now that is limited. Come join us and let the good times roll!

The origins of dragon boat racing go back over 2,000 years to ancient China. Now the sport is growing in popularity worldwide and you have just taken the first step to get in on the fun. Our freestyle drum circle will include meditation and creative activities to awaken our spirits and connect us to our authentic rhythm. Everyone is welcome- new and experienced drummers alike.
